    Assignment Prompt & Instructions

You are the public information  officer (PIO) for a small company, responsible for communicating and  distributing information for your organization.

    ## Prompt

In this scenario, an unexpected incident has occurred within your  local community, impacting the safety of employees returning to the  office for ANY reason for the foreseeable future. Your task is to **record an AUDIO message**  1-3 minutes in length that will be used to communicate this emergency.  This audio message will be sent to all employees immediately. The audio  message should convey the (a)situation, (b)the transition to remote work  after the message, and (c)include a brief example from your research of  another company experiencing unexpected closure.

**First,** **Choose the incident** -  be creative with your incident description. Choose one of the following disasters as the basis for your message:

    – **A technological incident** – examples include power  outages, dam failures, chemical incidents, nuclear events, industrial  pollution, and transportation accidents.
    – **A man-made incident**– examples include civil disorder, terrorism, crime, arson, and chemical spills.
    – **A natural disaster incident**– examples include hurricanes, weather incidents, avalanches, droughts, landslides, flooding, and earthquakes.

    **Second,** **Write the Script**

Write the script message you will convey in a voicemail distributed  to all employees addressing the office closure without inducing panic.

Elaborate on the transition to remote work. No need to detail remote  work instructions, your task is to inform of the transition.

_\*\* Make the assumption all employees are familiar with remote procedures._

_**This portion of your recording must be 1-3 minutes._

    **Third,** **Research an Example**

Research a real-world example of a company that faced an unexpected closure **similar to YOUR incident**  (if your incident is technological, this example must be technological,  if your incident is man-made, your real-world example must be man-made;  if your  incident is natural, your real-world example must also be a  natural disaster), share how the real-world company communicated to  their employees and stakeholders of the office closure. Share your  findings **after/at the end** of your audio message (after the scenario voicemail).

**Fourth,** **Record your Message** – In a 1-3 minute audio message, the following elements must be present:

    – Convey the immediate office closure without causing panic.
    – Elaborate the immediate transition process for remote work to employees.
    – You must convey they are NOT to come to the building.
    – AFTER the message
    – Include an example from the research you conducted of a company  unexpectedly closing and how employees were communicated to keep  employees from returning to work. This researched example is **NOT due to fiscal or store closure**; the example must be disaster-related and **NOT COVID-related**. Finally, how did this real-world example of a company that faced unexpected closure communicate to employees and stakeholders?
    – Your script AND the Reference for your Example MUST be submitted with the audio recording.

_**Your script is where the Reference used for the example should be located._

This is what a sample day should look like in your unit plan.  Note the length and level of detail and color coding. Your unit should include 5-10 days of lessons.

Candidates create a thematic unit that integrates STEM experiences with literacy, math, or social studies for a grade level of the candidate's choice. Regardless of the relative emphasis of STEM, literacy, math, or social studies within the unit, appropriate STEM methodologies should be explicitly included (e.g. vocabulary instruction, how/why questioning emphasis, inquiry/discovery learning, science and engineering practices/cross-cutting concepts, etc.).  Social justice and equity should also be explicit within the plan (e.g. including phenomena with social justice implications, discussing social justice implications, equitable discourse, historical bias in how scientific discoveries are described, etc.)

    Assignment Prompt & Instructions

Before a child can begin speech/language therapy, an evaluation must be conducted. Formal and informal assessments are both very valuable when determining appropriate intervention. Formal assessments are typically done in standardized test form. Informal assessments involve collecting data in a more one-to-one fashion via interviews, observations, and/or language samples. Language samples provide a great deal of information related to a child’s language abilities and conversational skills and often contain a number of spoken utterances using various topics. During this discussion you will develop a profile of a child’s bilingual language development. This discussion is intended to show evidence that the student has achieved or is working on the following learning objectives:

    – Identify common measures of word use from a spontaneous language sample.
    – Identify difficulties in the development of morphology and syntax in late talkers and children with learning language learning disability (LLD) and specific language impairment (SLI).
    – Describe clinical applications of morphological and syntactic development.

    ##### **Directions**

    – For this discussion, you will review a bilingual language sample and answer questions about it.
    – Read the case study below:
    – _The student is a first grade, bilingual Spanish-English speaking student who was evaluated for a language learning disability (LLD). He has been speaking English for 1 1/2 years._

    Assignment Prompt & Instructions

    ### Planning for Equity as a Professional

Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) is a term used to describe policies and programs that promote the representation and participation of different groups of individuals. Many organizations have DEI statements, but many helping professionals are realizing how important these statements are on a personal level. When you make equity a priority, you help children and families that need it most. NAEYC provides professional recommendations for early childhood educators, but these professional standards can apply to many professions. You can build upon your work from your Week 1 Implicit Bias journal and your Week 2 discussion on Culturally Competent Care.

    1. Build awareness and understanding of your culture, personal beliefs, values, and biases.
    2. Recognize the power and benefits of diversity and inclusivity.
    3. Take responsibility for biased actions, even if unintended, and actively work to repair the harm.
    4. Acknowledge and seek to understand structural inequities and their impact over time.
    5. View your commitment to cultural responsiveness as an ongoing process.
    6. Recognize that the professional knowledge-base is changing.

    To prepare for this journal,

    – Read the article [Recommendations for EveryoneLinks to an external site.](https://www.naeyc.org/resources/position-statements/equity/recommendations-everyone).

Create a one-page equity statement, referring to at least **three** of the Recommendations for Everyone, being sure to

    – Describe 3 ways this course has prepared you to apply these recommendations.
    – Explain 3 strategies that will help you grow as a professional to achieve these recommendations.

Instruction and Rubric for week 3 assignments

    Assessment Description

As a teacher, it is important to understand the components of explicit and systematic phonics instruction. Intentional phonics instruction is complementary to phonological awareness and can have positive effects on word recognition, fluency, spelling, and vocabulary achievement. Teachers explicitly teach the relationships between letters/graphemes and the sounds of spoken language. Explicit instruction requires that teachers provide step-by-step directions for the relationships between letters (patterns) and sounds. The goal in phonics instruction should always be to teach students to decode patterns to move words into sight word memory.

Teachers are encouraged to develop intentional and robust instructional routines to support all students. The research shows that the brain responds to phonics instruction that is engaging, multisensory, and cumulative. While there is not one specific phonics scope and sequence, most research-based phonics instruction follows an organized structure that involves less complex letter-sound relationships to more complex ones.

Utilize the “Phonics Instruction” template to complete this assignment.

**Part 1: Explicit Instruction and Intentional Instructional Routines**

Choose a grade level K-3 for this assignment and review the standards from the state you plan to teach in. After reviewing the grade level reading foundational standards, choose one and create a 10-15 minute explicit introductory phonics lesson.

    **Part 2: Reflection**

After reviewing the grade level foundational standards and creating an explicit phonics lesson, write a 150-250 word reflection on how the Science of Reading was used to address the components of the phonics lesson.

Support your assignment with a minimum of two scholarly resources.

While APA Style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected. Source documentation should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

This assignment uses a rubric. Before beginning the assignment, review the rubric to familiarize yourself with the expectations for successful completion.

You are required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite. A link to the LopesWrite technical support articles is in Class Resources if you need assistance.

    Assignment Prompt & Instructions

One of the prime articulators is the tongue. The tongue has a tip, middle, and back part (i.e., root). It is a muscular bag with layers of muscles enabling many shapes and forms to create speech sounds as well as to manipulate food into boluses. The tip can normally be extended or pointed outward. It can move upward to touch the back of the anterior teeth or the gum ridge to make lingua-alveolar or lingua-dental sounds. But some children cannot raise the tip of their tongues very far, and when they try, the tongue forms a heart shape. What is happening? It may affect their speech and eating.

The purpose of this discussion is for you to apply your understanding of articulation and resonation to clients who are tongue-tied. This discussion is intended to allow you to show evidence that you have achieved the following Learning Outcomes:
