    **Recruitment Template: Follow Up**

    Dear [Potential Participant/Parents/Student/etc.],

As a doctoral candidate in the
[Christian Leadership Doctoral Programs](https://canvas.liberty.edu/courses/55053) at Liberty University, I am conducting research to better understand how social media influences the religious behavior of church-going teenagers. Two weeks ago, an email was sent to you inviting your child to participate in a research study. This follow-up letter is being sent to remind you to review and return the attached parental consent form if you would like your child to participate and have not already done so.

Participants must be between the ages of 13 and 18 and currently attend a church on a regular basis. Participants will be asked to complete an online, anonymous survey about their use of social media and its impact on their religious practices. It should take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete the survey. Participation will be completely anonymous, and no personal, identifying information will be collected.

To participate, please have your child complete the attached survey and return it by email or contact me at [phone number/email address] to schedule a follow-up interview if you would prefer. If you agree to have your child participate and meet the criteria, I will send further instructions.

A consent document is attached to this letter, which provides additional information about the study. If you choose to participate for your child, you will need to sign the consent form and return it to me by email or to your child's teacher at their school.

Because participation is anonymous, you do not need to sign and return the consent document unless you would prefer to do so. After you have read the consent form, please complete and return the survey. Doing so will indicate that you have read the consent information and agree to participate.

Participants will receive a $10 gift card as a token of appreciation for their time.

    Sincerely,
    Arnita Norman

    **R** ECORD
**:** Document the awareness, knowledge, and skills with respect to CPT for PTSD training (
    _holistic recording_)

This will be a global response with details to follow with the remaining components. Your subheading for this could be RECORD or it could be Awareness, Knowledge, and Skills of CPT to Treat PTSD or something similar. What are you now aware of regarding this training? This could include information that CPT is a cognitive-behavioral treatment for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). CPT was developed in the late 1980s and has been shown to be effective in reducing PTSD symptoms related to a variety of traumatic events including child abuse, combat, rape, and natural disasters. CPT is endorsed by the U.S. Departments of Veterans Affairs and Defense, as well as the International Society of Traumatic Stress Studies, as a best practice for the treatment of PTSD. The treatment manual has been translated into six languages. It was originally designed for soldiers with combat-related PTSD but the training course and its tenets could be applied to anyone with PTSD.

Knowledge….what came out of this training that added to your knowledge base as to how to treat PTSD?

What skills did you learn? What skills were introduced as being an integral part of the training? Would this include Socratic questioning?

    **E** STABLISH
**:** Support the overall goal of the activity with at least two specific learning outcomes, keeping in mind how to use the outcomes in actual counseling,

You might substitute "activity" for the training as the instructions refer to the overall goal. The overall goal is what students can expect to be able to do by the end of the training/course. Identify two "specific" learning outcomes that connect to the overarching goal. Relate this to what a counselor could use from the training when working with clients suffering from PTSD. Each module completed had a learning outcome that should be directly related to the overall goal of the training.

    **F** RAME
**:** Provide a rationale for treating PTSD using the CPT model.

Why does it make sense to use the CPT model to treat PTSD?

**:** Anticipate and provide examples of how you will use CPT counseling skills and interventions when providing therapy for PTSD.

How will you incorporate the skills and interventions and activities introduced in the training into your own therapy in working with clients with PTSD?

    **E** VALUATE
**:** Measure the effectiveness of the activities you identified and the related counseling skills and document the anticipated results.

How will you measure the effectiveness of incorporating the two activities you described in the previous (Link) component? What documentation will you provide?

    **Pulmonary Function:**

D.R. is a 27-year-old man, who presents to the nurse practitioner at the Family Care Clinic complaining of increasing SOB, wheezing, fatigue, cough, stuffy nose, watery eyes, and postnasal drainage—all of which began four days ago. Three days ago, he began monitoring his peak flow rates several times a day. His peak flow rates have ranged from 65-70% of his regular baseline with nighttime symptoms for 3 nights on the last week and often have been at the lower limit of that range in the morning. Three days ago, he also began to self-treat with frequent albuterol nebulizer therapy. He reports that usually his albuterol inhaler provides him with relief from his asthma symptoms, but this is no longer enough treatment for this asthmatic episode.

    **Case Study Questions**

    1. According to the case study information, how would you classify the severity of D.R. asthma attack?
    2. Name the most common triggers for asthma in any given patients and specify in your answer which ones you consider applied to D.R. on the case study.
    3. Based on your knowledge and your research, please explain the factors that might be the etiology of D.R. being an asthmatic patient.

    **Fluid, Electrolyte and Acid-Base Homeostasis:**

Ms. Brown is a 70-year-old woman with type 2 diabetes mellitus who has been too ill to get out of bed for 2 days. She has had a severe cough and has been unable to eat or drink during this time. On admission, her laboratory values show the following:

    – Serum glucose 412 mg/dL
    – Serum sodium (Na+) 156 mEq/L
    – Serum potassium (K+) 5.6 mEq/L
    – Serum chloride (Cl–) 115 mEq/L
    – Arterial blood gases (ABGs): pH 7.30; PaCO2 32 mmHg; PaO2 70 mmHg; HCO3– 20 mEq/L

    **Case Study Questions**

    1. Based on Ms. Brown admission’s laboratory values, could you determine what type of water and electrolyte imbalance does she has?
    2. Describe the signs and symptoms to the different types of water imbalance and described clinical manifestation she might exhibit with the potassium level she has.
    3. In the specific case presented which would be the most appropriate treatment for Ms. Brown and why?
    4. What the ABGs from Ms. Brown indicate regarding her acid-base imbalance?
    5. Based on your readings and your research define and describe Anion Gaps and its clinical significance.

    **Submission Instructions:**

    – You must complete both case studies
    – Your initial post should be at least **500 words per case study**, formatted and cited in current APA style with support from at least 2 academic sources. Your initial post is worth 8 points.

    Assignment Prompt & Instructions

I need a discussion post completed by Wednesday.

The content of your original post and responses to two classmates should be unique, original, and align with the discussion expectations. Repetitive (redundant) answers will not receive full credit.

Write in your own words and paraphrase content from cited sources–including Course Learning Resources–in a thoughtful manner. Content copied verbatim from websites, books, magazines, artificial intelligence tools (e.g., ChatGPT), and so on, will not receive credit. You are required to use APA formatted in-text citations and a reference list in each original post.

Use complete sentences, correct spelling and grammar, and well-written and organized paragraphs.

While there is no minimum word count, most students find they can convey their ideas in a descriptive, thoughtful way in about 75-150 words in both their original posts and responses to classmates.

You may select ONE of the following discussion topics (Options A, B, or C) for your original post.

**Option A:** The textbook shares **three** ideas for decreasing your environmental impact in regard to protein consumption (see Unit 6 Section: “Protein Food Choices and Sustainability”).

    1. What are the three ideas from our textbook?
    2. Which of these three ways would you be willing to try?
    3. Describe your current protein intake.
    4. Discuss at least three ways that you could change your current protein intake to try this small shift in environmental impact.

**Option B:** You work in a nutrition education office. A client has been diagnosed with atherosclerosis and isn’t sure what they can eat to help manage their condition. Describe atherosclerosis including how diet plays a role in the development of this condition. Provide your client with at least **three nutrition-related suggestions** that could help them slow the progression of atherosclerosis. Discuss the evidence for your nutrition-related suggestions. Cite sources.

**Option C:** Visit the link for [Dietary Supplement Fact Sheets from NIH](https://learn.umgc.edu/d2l/common/dialogs/quickLink/quickLink.d2l?ou=1258268&type=content&rcode=UMUC-8870520) (Week 4 Learning Resources > Page 5:  Additional Content for Real Life). Select one of the supplements and answer the following questions. Use and cite additional reliable and credible resources as needed.

    1. What is the supplement?
    2. Why did you choose this one specifically?
    3. What are the typical uses?
    4. What concerns do you have about this supplement?
    5. What are food sources of this nutrient (if any)?
