    Module 2: Practicing Reflective Analysis

    ·
    **Due** Sunday by 11:59pm

    Instructions

Each week students are expected to have read the course material and prepare a written reflection/reaction/annotated bibliography.

**FIRST**: Reflect – write a 2-page reflection offering your insights regarding the course discussion from the weekly group discussion activities, and course learning materials (movies, articles, videos, field notes, and Photographs). This should be properly cited and formatted according to APA, and show an attempt to grapple with the content offered.   (You are required to use material from the Module to support your thoughts.  At this point, your citations should be many.)

**AND THEN:**  React to the materials from the module by responding to the following prompts:

    1. How do organizational structures and societal stereotypes reinforce barriers for women striving to be both competent leaders and socially accepted?

    2. How do perceptions of likeability and competence differ for men and women in professional networks, and what strategies might women employ to navigate these biases effectively? How do you experience likeability and success in social and professional settings?

    3. How does the film
_Bombshell_ illustrate the tension between likeability, power, and success for women in male-dominated workplaces, and what lessons can leaders draw from the characters’ struggles to navigate systemic sexism while maintaining their professional reputations?

    4. What questions or areas of curiosity remain for you after completing this module?

**FINALLY:**  Annotate your reading to demonstrate your understanding of the journal articles.
**Choose 3 articlesfrom the module** and create a short annotated bibliography using APA format (example provided here).  Your annotations should include a summary of the article's major points, and demonstrate the source’s application to your paper.

For the ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY, please keep in mind that all text, including the write-up beneath the citation, must be indented so that the author's last name is the only text that is flush left.

    SAMPLE APA ANNOTATION

    Ehrenreich, B. (2001).
_Nickel and dimed: On (not) getting by in America_. Henry Holt and Company.

In this book of nonfiction based on the journalist's experiential research, Ehrenreich attempts to ascertain whether it is currently possible for an individual to live on a minimum wage in America. Taking jobs as a waitress, a maid in a cleaning service, and a Walmart sales employee, the author summarizes and reflects on her work, her relationships with fellow workers, and her financial struggles in each situation.

An experienced journalist, Ehrenreich is aware of the limitations of her experiment and the ethical implications of her experiential research tactics and reflects on these issues in the text. The author is forthcoming about her methods and supplements her experiences with scholarly research on her places of employment, the economy, and the rising cost of living in America. Ehrenreich’s project is timely, descriptive, and well-researched.

The annotation above both summarizes and assesses the book in the citation. The first paragraph provides a summary of the author's project in the book, covering the main points of the work. The second paragraph points out the project’s strengths and evaluates its methods and presentation. This particular annotation does not reflect the source’s potential importance or usefulness for this person’s research.

    **Readings**

**_Important Note:_** Sometimes it’s easier to print any supplementary articles (or key parts of your e-text readings as applicable) and keep that content in a separate notebook (tabbed by module number) to allow for active reading, personal annotations, etc.

    Anything in the
**_"Learning Materials"_** content area is "fair game" for the critical analysis prompts and application (as is any other content presented in the module).  You'll also be doing some analysis and synthesis types of writing in this graduate-level course, so be sure to read "actively" and take/make notes as you go along.

In addition to the introductory readings and content provided in
**_Module 0_**, please read the following articles, and view the videos, and/or presentations (as applicable) listed below.   Then proceed through the Module content in the order presented.

For information on formatting APA citations, see our
[APA Formatting and Style Guide (Links to an external site.)](https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/apa6_style/apa_style_introduction.html).

Use the template provided here and then upload your completed paper. This paper is worth 20  points.

There is a great deal of research on the East versus West attempting to explain the variety of cultural
differences that make up a person’s identity. These studies show variations in communication,
expression, perception, and conflict avoidance among individuals from cultures from one orientation
versus the other (Matsumoto & Juang, 2017). Consider your own identity. Would you be the same
person if you were raised in a culture that valued the group over the individual (collectivistic culture) or
valued independence and the development of the self (individualistic culture)? How does your culture
    impact your identity?

As your final Assignment, you will reflect on Eastern versus Western approaches to various
psychological concepts and decide where you fall on the spectrum. You will then consider how these
facets of your identity may affect your life, personally and professionally, as well as your perspective on
    social change.

Based on the following figures or sections from your text, consider where you might find yourself on
each spectrum and how you got there:

    Consciousness, Figure 4.1, p. 160
    Intelligence, Figure 5.1, p. 200

    Views of Success, pp. 285–289
    Identity Development, Figure 8.1, p. 345
    Values, pp. 417–419

Select four of the above concepts to discuss in your paper for this Assignment.
Review the Writing Center resources to understand APA style and the overall expectations of
scholarly writing at Walden. Use the “Undergraduate Paper with Advice APA 7” course template for
    this Assignment.

Write a 2- to 3-page paper that includes the following points in your reflection:

Explain where you find yourself on the spectrum for each of the four concepts you selected.
For each concept, explain how your identity related to it impacts you professionally and personally.
Finally, explain how all of the above informs your pursuit of positive social change. Give an example.

Support the responses within your assignment with credited evidence from the assigned learning
resources (including sentence-level citations). Provide a reference list in APA Style for resources you
    used in the assignment.

    Assignment Prompt & Instructions

Help with Re-work. MUST be AI-FREE generated and plagarism FREE.

Different cultures have different expectations from their boys and girls; some expect the boys to look after parents when they grow up, some expect girls to be “feminine” in their behavior in order to get a better job, husband, or status. Such expectations are reflected in a child’s relation to other children and adults, which may present confusion within the school community.

    **Instructions**

Create a PowerPoint presentation on cross-cultural gender development concepts suitable for an audience of elementary school educators in a multicultural school district. Choose two hypothetical cultures in this district in addition to your own culture **(own culture is African)**.

Include the following in your presentation:

    – Explain the distinction between culture, ethnicity, and religion in relation to gender concepts.
    – Evaluate the impact of culture on children’s perception of gender roles.
    – Provide concrete examples that illustrate both questions above.

Incorporate appropriate animations, transitions, graphics, and speaker notes for each slide. The speaker notes may be comprised of brief paragraphs or bulleted lists.

Length: This assignment should include 12-15 slides, excluding the title and reference slide.

References: Include a minimum of three scholarly resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources may be included.

The completed assignment should address all assignment requirements, exhibit evidence of concept knowledge, and demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the content presented in the course. The writing should integrate scholarly resources, reflect academic expectations and current APA standards.

Throughout this term, we have been exploring the many ways that cultures differ. As we seek to
understand people who come from different backgrounds, we are naturally led to apply new levels of
sensitivity to issues such as justice, health, and peace. These are issues that the field of Psychology is
concerned with, as we shift away from a past dominated by a White, Western, and largely male
viewpoint and seek to embrace true cultural sensitivity. Like Walden, Psychology is actively applying
research to issues of equity, diversity, inclusion, and human dignity. The final chapter in our text

examine some aspect of Applied Cross-Cultural Psychology.

Review Chapter 12 of your course text and identify an area of application you find particularly
interesting or worthy of further discussion.
Review the Learning Activity– Developing Discussion Questions That Promote Critical Thinking. This
activity will guide you in how to write a question for this week’s Discussion post that can
generate critical thinking in your colleagues.
Consider what question you could ask your colleagues that promotes critical thinking about
    applications of Cross-Cultural Psychology.

Post one meaningful, open-ended question that requires critical thinking about some aspect of
    individualism vs. collectivism.

Support the responses within your assignment post with credited evidence from the assigned
learning resources (including sentence-level citations). Provide a reference list in APA Style for

The final chapter in our text

outlines a number of applications of Cross-Cultural Psychology to issues that are near to the heart of
Walden and increasingly crucial for our society.

For this Week’s Discussion, you will develop one meaningful and well thought out question that is
inspired by this week’s Learning Resources. Your question should help your colleagues critically
examine some aspect of Applied Cross-Cultural Psychology.

Provide a reference list in APA Style for
resources you used in the post.

Note: Please do not ask closed-end questions, such as questions that can be answered
with yes or no. The purpose of your question is to get your colleague to think critically
    about individualism vs. collectivism.

Your initial post must provide a rationale or background for the question as illustrated in the example
provided in “Learning Activity—Developing Discussion Questions That Promote Critical Thinking”. Put
your question in the first line of your post and put your supporting text below that in your post.

    Discussion Tips:

Questions published earlier in the week get more responses.
Support your question with at least one reference (textbook or other scholarly, empirical
    resources) in the message body.
Include in-text citations and references in APA style.
