    Assignment Prompt & Instructions

For this discussion, you will be required to do some homework.
First, identify a publicly traded for-profit health care company within the United States. This might be a company like HCA, Pfizer, Merck, Johnson & Johnson, Tenet Healthcare, Walgreens, etc. Go to the company website and locate the ‘investor relations’ page (names for this page may vary) and locate the financial information for the company. For publicly traded firms, the 10K provides the annual financial report. Company annual reports might also contain summarized financial information.
Second, identify a not-for-profit or charitable organization of your choice. This might include a local not-for-profit hospital system or other healthcare-related charitable organization. Go to the organization’s website and locate any financial information you can find. This might require more due diligence than what was required with the for-profit firm you chose. Annual reports might contain some financial information, but some organizations might also provide financial information on their website.
Once you have done the research on your two organizations, respond to the following questions:
    1. How easy was it to find financial information on each of the organizations you chose?
    2. What are 3 – 5 differences between the financial statements of each type of organization?
    3. Why do you think there is a difference in the level of financial detail provided by the two types of organization?
    4. In your opinion, should both types of organization have the same financial reporting requirements?
    5. Not-for-profits enjoy the benefit of not being taxed at the local, state, or federal level. In some cases, the level of local charitable support has not been sufficient for civic leaders. Has your charitable organization ever been challenged for the level of support they provide (do a Google search)?
    6. For-profit health care companies provide care but make a profit in the process. Are there any ethical considerations that are worth noting about for-profit health care? Does your chosen for-profit organization overcome any potential ethical concerns?

    ## Math Assessment- Submission Directions.htm

    Math Assessment- Submission Directions

    Due by 11:30 P.M on April 5, 2022

Similar to comprehension assessment submission, it might be a good idea to have a one-word document that provides just your report and results of the math assessment and two or more documents that include only scanned materials. Make sure that each of the submitted documents is labeled with the name of the assignment and has your name. Number those documents in a sequence to help me make sense of them as I would be grading them. Finally, plan in advance your submission so that you are not late due to any last-minute technical problems (like scanner problems).

Your math assessment should include the following:

    Your Name:

    Date:

    – The grade level of your student

    – Skill: Number facts: Adequate assessment of facts (1 minute timed) for age/grade level of student

    – Justify why you think your assessment of number facts is adequate for the age and grade level of your target student. Use the Common Core Georgia Performance Standards for Mathematics
[https://www.georgiastandards.org/Common-Core/Pages/Math.aspx](https://www.georgiastandards.org/Common-Core/Pages/Math.aspx) for justification purposes. You also can use curriculum guides recommended by your mentor teacher to support your justification. If you needed to move down a student’s grade level (expected grade level) provide the justification for doing so.

Report here how you designed your assessment of facts. Report where you located your probes/tests or how you went about their development. Report in what order you used your number facts probe/tests, talk about the exact wording of directions given to the student and if the student used “their fingers, tally marks, etc” during working on their math facts indicate the specific facts that this happened. Describe what scoring system you established to score the results (like percentages, rate, number correct, and so on, as appropriate, for each math skill you assessed). Report here your student’s overall attitude toward this form of assessment and describe any other relevant conditions related to the number of facts assessment. Do not engage here in your analysis and interpretation though. You will be asked to do so in your final report. So save all the detail for later.

    – Skill: Computation: Adequate assessment of operations for age/grade level of student

    – Justify why you think your assessment of computational skills is adequate for the age and grade level of your target student. Use the Common Core Georgia Performance Standards for Mathematics
[https://www.georgiastandards.org/Common-Core/Pages/Math.aspx](https://www.georgiastandards.org/Common-Core/Pages/Math.aspx) for justification purposes. You also can use curriculum guides recommended by your mentor teacher, etc. to support your justification. If you needed to move down a student’s grade level (expected grade level) provide the justification for doing so.

Report here how you designed your assessment of computational skills. Report where you located your probes/tests or how you went about their development. Report in what order you used your computational skills probes/tests, talk about the exact wording of directions given to the student and if the student made any pauses during working on their computational skills indicate the computational skills that this happened. If you needed to make any changes during the administration of this assessment provide your justification for doing so. Describe what scoring system you established to score the results (like percentages, rate, number correct, the number of correct digits (CD), and so on, as appropriate, for each math skill you assessed). Report where your assessment took place, how long it took for your target student to complete it, your student’s overall attitude toward this form of assessment, and describe any other relevant conditions related to the computational skills assessment. Do not engage here in your analysis and interpretation though. You will be asked to do so in your final report. So save all the detail for later.

    – Skill: Problem Solving: Adequate assessment of problem-solving for age/grade level of student

    – Justify why you think your assessment of problem-solving skills is adequate for the age and grade level of your target student.

Report here how you designed your assessment of problem-solving skills. Report where you located your problem-solving probes/tests or how you went about their development. Report in what order you used your problem-solving skills probes/tests, talk about the exact wording of directions given to the student and if the student made any pauses during working on their problems indicate the problems that this happened. If you needed to make any changes during the administration of this assessment provide your justification for doing so. Describe what scoring system you established to score the results (like percentages, rate, number correct, the number of correct digits (CD), and so on, as appropriate, for each math skill you assessed). Report where your assessment took place, how long it took for your target student to complete the probes/tests, your student’s overall attitude toward this form of assessment, and describe any other relevant conditions related to the problem-solving skills assessment. Do not engage here in your analysis and interpretation though. You will be asked to do so in your final report. So save all the detail for later.

    – One-page Summary

    – Provide a one-page summary of the math skills and the student’s performance. Do not provide any interpretations of the results on this page, just list the math skills assessed and report the student’s performance in numbers. The goal of this page is to report the student’s performance without any analysis or interpretation, so include only percentages, rate, number correct, or the number of correct digits (CD), as appropriate, for each math skill you assessed. I should be able to look at this page and see in a few seconds that the student demonstrated, for example, 60% accuracy on her addition facts 0-9. Depending on how many assessments you conducted, you may need more than one page to report your results and that is okay.

    – Math assessment materials

    – Scan your scored math assessments into separate two or more documents and submit them to the assignment dropbox. Be sure that your name is on each of these scanned documents.

Note: If you use other than your own developed probes and problem-solving tasks for this assignment make sure to cite their references following the APA Manual.

    ELEMENT CHOSEN IS : IRON
"It is health that is the real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver." – Mahatma Gandhi
While the elements of gold and silver are highly prized for their monetary value, there are certain other elements, known as essential elements, that are vital to the survival of living organisms. Humans must obtain all these elements through diet or respiration in order to survive and thrive. The 25 essential elements are as follows: boron, carbon, calcium, chlorine, chromium, cobalt, copper, fluorine, hydrogen, iodine, iron, magnesium, manganese, molybdenum, nitrogen, oxygen, phosphorus, potassium, selenium, silicon, sodium, sulfur, tin, vanadium, and zinc.
The purpose of this project is to explore these building blocks of life and how they fit into nutrition.
Select an element from the list above and submit it to your instructor for approval. Once approved, research information regarding nutritional sources and the required daily amount for a specific population (e.g., child, youth/adolescent, adult, senior). Using Microsoft Word, create an educational pamphlet/brochure intended for a parent or caregiver on the chosen essential element and its role in nutrition. You may use a free template provided by "Microsoft Brochure Templates," located in the topic Resources, or design one from scratch. Care and consideration should be taken for the professional presentation of the content, including the visual appeal and aesthetic quality.
The pamphlet/brochure content should include the following subsections:
    **1. Element's Role(s) in the Human Body**
The element may be important for one specific organ in the body, or it may be utilized in multiple organs or throughout the body. Discuss the most important or impactful role(s) that the element plays in the human body.
**2. Nutritional, Dietary Sources of the Element**
Avoid presenting a long list of foods that contain the chosen element but do give specific examples. When possible, include food groups that the element is found in as well.
**3. Recommended Daily Intake and Current Average Population Intake Rates**
Provide values for daily intake of your chosen element as provided by the National Institute of Health or other governmental agencies. Reported values may be the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA), Adequate Intake (AI), Estimated Average Requirement (EAR), or Daily Value (DV).
**4. Symptoms or Diseases Related to Deficiency or Toxicity of the Element**
Discuss the symptoms or complications an individual would experience if their diet were deficient in the chosen element or if too much is ingested (toxicity). Include any differences in symptoms or disease due to short-term deficiency and/or toxicity or long-term deficiency and/or toxicity, and if the complications are permanent or can be corrected.
**5. Morbidity and/or Mortality Rates Associated with Deficiency or Toxicity**
Provide the associated morbidity and/or mortality rates and address what portion of the overall population suffers due to a deficiency or toxicity of the chosen essential element.
    **6. High-Risk Groups**
This section should also address any high-risk groups within other populations based on gender, age, race, or socioeconomic status.
In addition to the content of the pamphlet, a clear title page and references section should be included.
Include at least three references from reputable sources that demonstrate adequate support for the nutritional recommendations. At least two of the sources utilized must be peer-reviewed journal articles. Refer to the "GCU Library's Guide for Nutrition and Dietetics" located in the topic Resources, as a starting place for research sources. References should be cited within the text of the pamphlet/brochure, following APA format.
While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.
This assignment uses a rubric. Review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.
You are required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite. A link to the LopesWrite technical support articles is located in Class Resources if you need assistance.

    Assignment Prompt & Instructions

The core conceptual distinction between mediator and moderator variables is essential for establishing strong causal inferences in research. This difference was formally established by Baron and Kenny (1986) and later refined by scholars such as MacKinnon (2008). A mediator variable explains the mechanism by which an independent variable (IV) impacts a dependent variable (DV). It acts as a go-between, transmitting the effect of the IV to the DV within a causal sequence. For instance, a therapeutic intervention (IV) could diminish symptoms (DV) by enhancing an individual's self-efficacy (mediator). Historically, pinpointing a mediator required establishing a series of statistically significant regression pathways. However, contemporary methodologies, substantially shaped by MacKinnon's contributions, now emphasize directly assessing the indirect effect (the multiplication of the IV-mediator and mediator-DV paths) through resampling techniques such as bootstrapping.
A moderator variable defines the strength or direction of the relationship between an independent variable (IV) and a dependent variable (DV). It specifies the conditions under which an effect occurs, acting as a limiting factor rather than explaining the underlying process. In statistical analysis, a significant interaction term in a regression model predicting the DV signals a moderator. For instance, a new teaching method (IV) might only improve student test scores (DV) for students with strong prior knowledge (moderator).
    **Importance of the Distinction**
Distinguishing between these two roles is critical for both theory development and strategic analysis. Mixing them up results in flawed theoretical models—mistaking a condition for a mechanism, or vice versa—leading to incorrect statistical modeling and potentially erroneous conclusions about the underlying phenomena. Researchers must select the appropriate statistical technique: mediation analysis to assess process, and moderation analysis (utilizing interaction terms) to evaluate boundary conditions.
Arain et al. (2020), in their study "The impact of abusive supervision on employees' feedback avoidance and subsequent help-seeking behaviour: A moderated mediation model," utilized a complex research design to examine moderated mediation. They investigated how abusive supervision indirectly influences employees' help-seeking behavior through supervisory feedback avoidance, a specific mediating mechanism. The researchers also incorporated perceived co-worker support as a moderator, assessing whether the strength of this mediation depended on the level of peer support employees experienced. The findings confirmed this integrated approach, underscoring the critical need to differentiate between process (mediation) and boundary condition (moderation) for understanding complex psychological dynamics in the workplace.
