    Journal Assignment:

If you’re a member of the Prosecution, you will write 300 words or more for your journal,
laying out the best evidence to convict William Bradfield. If you are Defense, write 300 more
words laying out the best evidence to find him innocent. If you are on team Jury, you will do
300 words on each (600 total). Present your case as an extended argument, convincing
yourself (and your classmates) why whatever you believe is the objective truth.

Below is an optional set of instructions/prompts to help you build and organize your cases
for the journal and best practices, such as Prosecution offering discovery to the Defense.
Also attached is guides for Opening Statements and How to handle Objections. Email me if
    you have any questions.

Pre-Trial Journal Prompt for the Prosecution:

    1. Evidence Analysis (Pages 154-183):

o Read the relevant pages of the text and identify the following:

o What key pieces of evidence/witnesses from these pages are most crucial to
your case? List and explain why they are important to proving the defendant's
    guilt.

o Are there any potential weaknesses/counterarguments related to the
evidence that you need to address preemptively?

o Identify any connections between pieces of evidence/witnesses that could
strengthen your argument or create a narrative thread for the jury.

o You must email a copy of this called “discovery” to the defense attorneys a
    week before the trial.

    2. Building Your Argument:

o How will you introduce the case and engage the jury’s attention? Think about
how to establish the facts clearly and persuasively from the outset.

o What points do you intend to make to convince the jury of the defendant's
guilt? Outline them in a logical sequence.

o Ensure each point logically leads to the next. How can you make sure your
argument is cohesive and flows naturally as you walk the jury through the
    evidence.

o For example, you should establish that a crime was committed before
arguing there was a conspiracy and only after that what part the accused
    played in that conspiracy.

    3. Rhetorical Strategy:

o What rhetorical devices will you use to persuade the jury? Consider ethos,
pathos, and logos, and how each can strengthen your argument. Ethos
focuses on the speaker's credibility, pathos appeals to emotions, and logos
    relies on logic and reason.

o Consider how you will respond to any potential rebuttals or defenses raised
    by the opposing side.

    4. Required Writing:

o Write your opening statement, you’ll read this aloud at the Mock Trial.

o Determine who will be called and what questions you’ll ask each witness.

o Write your closing statement, you’ll read this aloud at the Mock Trial.

Pre-Trial Journal Prompt for the Defense:

    1. Evidence Analysis (Pages 154-183):

o Read the relevant pages of the text and identify the following:

o What traces make good evidence in the case? What evidence/witnesses
might support your argument that the defendant is innocent, or what can you
use to cast doubt on the prosecution's case?

o Receive and read the prosecution’s discovery. Review the prosecution’s case
as detailed in their discovery. Are there any pieces of evidence you can
discredit or reinterpret? How will you challenge the reliability or credibility of
    the evidence presented?

o What inconsistencies or gaps in the evidence can you highlight to weaken the
    prosecution's argument?

    2. Building Your Argument:

o How will you open your defense to the jury? Think about how to introduce the
    idea that reasonable doubt exists.

o What are the primary points you need to make to show the defendant's
innocence or cast doubt on their guilt? Structure these points logically.

o How will you ensure your argument flows clearly, with each point supporting
the next and culminating in a strong conclusion?

    3. Rhetorical Strategy:

o How will you use rhetoric to create empathy for the defendant and engage
the jury emotionally? What tone will you adopt to convey sincerity and
    credibility?

o How can you use ethos, pathos, and logos to persuade the jury of your
argument’s merit? Ethos focuses on the speaker's credibility, pathos appeals
to emotions, and logos relies on logic and reason.

o What preemptive counterarguments can you anticipate from the
prosecution, and how will you respond to them?

    4. Required Writing:

o Write your opening statement, you’ll read this aloud at the Mock Trial.

o Determine who will be called and what questions you’ll ask each witness.

o Write your closing statement, you’ll read this aloud at the Mock Trial.

    Class,

I hope everyone had a great eight weeks of learning. The marketing plan I developed focused on Maxwell House Coffee, a well-established brand facing notable challenges over the past decade. Through extensive research, I gained insights into the brand’s diverse product offerings and its storied heritage. However, this history became somewhat obscured when Kraft Heinz acquired the brand, followed by its subsequent purchase by an even larger conglomerate. Initially, my approach yielded positive results in evaluating product quality and leveraging traditional advertising methods.

This momentum was disrupted when Maxwell House Coffee underwent its first rebranding in 133 years, becoming Maxwell Apartment. Launching a new marketing campaign immediately after a major rebranding posed risks of consumer confusion. Recognizing this, I incorporated the rebranding into my proposal rather than disregarding it. After thorough analysis of available information regarding the campaign, I determined that the initiative appeared to be more of a promotional tactic and risked alienating loyal customers. Consequently, I recommend a detailed strategy rooted in traditional advertising, emphasizing Maxwell House’s historical significance and its unique connection to American culture, appealing to a broad audience that includes both agricultural workers and political figures.

Marketing plans are an integral part of the success of businesses and overall sales plans. Weak marketing can lead to loss of revenue, poor relationships with customer and vendors, and failure of an organization in some cases. For these reasons, investment in a good marketing team and solid marketing plan can yield an excellent return on investment for a business.

The biggest challenges I faced while writing my marketing plan were in relation to digging out information on competitors in the industry. Almost all are privately held organizations, so there is little information available to the public on their financial situations and other pertinent information. I had an advantage of being involved in this industry for the last 4 years, which did help in the marketing plan, giving me insight into the market that others may not have.

My biggest triumph personally was putting together a marketing budget and figuring out the appropriation for those funds. This is something I’ve never done before, even as a GM running a business. Marketing activities are always handles by a corporate team, so putting together my own budget for one was really fun!

The biggest challenge for putting this plan into place would definitely be incorporating the recent safety study in a digestible way for consumers. One of the biggest hurdles in growing market share for rubber mulch is the pre-existing notion that it is inherently toxic, and if IMC can overcome those stereotypes, they have opportunity to really grow their business. It’s just a lot of information for customers to take in, and hard to make into visually appealing marketing materials.

Most of the controls I used in my plan are financially driven. We set measurable goals for market and revenue growth, and hitting those goals are the greatest control we can use. If we are falling short of the 7.5% increased sales revenue year over year, we can look for the indicators of where our marketing plan is falling short. Financial goals with clear parameters easily allow us to see where we are failing or where we are succeeding, and should be the first place we look when we are evaluating the success of this marketing plan.

_Questioning Strategies for a Variety of Purposes_ is our topic of discussion this week.   You will examine digital tools that support students’ development of higher-order questioning skills, stimulate debate, and promote inquiry and critical thinking.   You will create a variety of questions that activate prior knowledge, encourage local and global exploration, develop higher-order questioning skills, and promote problem-solving.

You should make sure that you are utilizing the resources that are outlined within this course.

To engage students in instruction that integrates social studies and the arts, teachers need to use a variety of questioning strategies. Questioning engages students’ depth of knowledge and promotes problem-solving and higher-order thinking.

You have been asked to present a professional development on the use of questioning strategies. Examine questioning strategies that develop higher-order skills, stimulate discussion, and promote inquiry and critical thinking appropriate for the chosen grade level in the Topic 1 assignment.

    **Part 1: GoReact Presentation**

Create a 10-12 slide digital presentation for the staff in which you outline the use of questioning strategies, assessments, and digital tools, and provide examples of probing questions related to the Topic 1 activity. Once the presentation is created, choose a screencast software to present the information. You will narrate your presentation through GoReact by using the screen share function. You must have your camera on during the narrated presentation.

    Your presentation should include:

    · A brief description of each depth of knowledge level (recall, skills/concepts, strategic thinking, extended thinking) with an explanation of the types of questions asked at each level.

    · A variety of five probing questions for each level that can be used as pre-assessment, formative, and/or summative assessment questions during the activity developed in Topic 1. Remember, these questions should activate prior knowledge, encourage local and global exploration, develop high-order questioning skills, and/or promote problem-solving.

    · At least one strategy for implementing these questions in a formative assessment during the learning activity developed in Topic 1, and one summative assessment strategy that measures student learning after the activity. Include the questions that will be used for each and a brief justification of why they were chosen.

    · At least two digital tools with a justification of how they support students in developing their own high-order questioning skills, stimulate discussion, and promote inquiry and critical thinking.

    **## QuestioningStrategiesforaVarietyofPurposesweek2assignment.docx**

You can access this assignment in two ways: through the calendar view or the Topic content. To begin working, click the 'Open Assignment' button.

Remember, video and audio quality are essential and should be taken into consideration. Ensure your video is filmed with sufficient lighting and the volume is adequate for viewers to hear. Intonation, expression, proper speech, and professional attire are expected.

    **Part 2: Reflection**

Once you post your narrated presentation, you will see it on the GoReact dashboard. Enter the playback screen by clicking the thumbnail. Watch the video and make at least
**_two specific comments_** by bookmarking and making a comment explaining where you see the following:

    · Biggest strength of your presentation and delivery

    · A place where you could improve your presentation and delivery to help you grow as a future educator

Support the presentation with 2-3 scholarly resources.

Presenter’s notes are required for each content slide. Presentation must include a title slide at the beginning and a reference slide with documentation of resources at the end. The title slide and reference slide do not count in the total number of slides.

**_Note:_** _The digital presentation may be added as an artifact to the teacher toolkit you created in ELM-555._

Show professionalism in your speech and appearance.

Remember, video and audio quality are essential and should be taken into consideration. Ensure your video is filmed with sufficient lighting and the volume is adequate for viewers to hear. Intonation, expression, proper speech, and professional attire are expected.

Use an online video platform such as Loom or Vimeo to upload your completed video. Ensure that others can access and view your linked video before submitting the assignment.

While APA Style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

This assignment uses a rubric in GoReact. Review the rubric in GoReact before beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

You are not required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite.

    **## QuestioningStrategiesforaVarietyofPurposesweek2assignment.docx**

This deliverable has three parts, an implementation narrative, a monitoring plan, and a SWOT analysis — that together form the blueprint for putting your solution into practice. You will also use your  implementation plan to complete a Gantt Chart that visually maps out the key activities, responsible  parties, and milestones over the six-month period.
Assignment Steps Part 1: Implementation Narrative An implementation plan is a roadmap that explains how a project will be carried out. It translates your  ideas and design into concrete actions, detailing what will happen, who will do it, when it will occur, and  how progress will be measured.
    1. Main Goals and Focus • What are the main goals of your project in the first six months of implementation? • What specific change or impact are you hoping to see as a result of your efforts? • How will you know that progress is being made toward these goals?
    2. Objectives • What 2–4 specific, measurable, and time-bound objectives will guide your work during this  period? • How do these objectives connect to your overall project goals and design? • What evidence or indicators will show that you’ve met each objective? • Which objectives are most feasible to accomplish within the first six months, given your  organization’s current capacity?
    3. Approach and Key Activities • What are the key activities or strategies you’ll implement to achieve your objectives? • Who will be responsible for leading or carrying out each activity? • What community partners, agencies, or collaborators will be involved, and how will they  contribute?
    4. Timeline and Milestones • How will you phase your activities over the first six months? • What are the most important milestones you expect to reach, and by when?
    5. Anticipated Outcomes • What short-term results do you expect to see by the end of the six months? • How will these results move your project closer to your long-term vision?
2 Part 2: Gantt Chart After completing your Implementation Narrative, translate your plan into a visual Gantt chart using the  provided template. Your Gantt chart should visually mirror your implementation plan – it is the same story  told in a timeline format. Your Gantt chart should: • List each major activity or task aligned to your objectives. • Identify the person or partner responsible for completing it. • Include start and end dates for each activity. • Highlight milestones (key checkpoints or deliverables).
Part 3: Monitoring Plan A monitoring plan explains how you will track progress toward your goals. It specifies what data will be  collected, who will collect it, how often it will be reviewed and how findings will be used to make  improvements along the way.  1. Performance Measures • What data will you collect to track progress toward your goals? • Who will collect it, and how will it be stored or analyzed? • If you collect personally identifiable information (PII), how will you protect it? 2. Reporting and Feedback • Who needs updates on your progress (e.g., funders, community partners, leadership)? • How and how often will you report back? • How will feedback or data findings be used to adjust your approach?
Part 4: SWOT Analysis  A SWOT analysis helps you assess your readiness for implementation by examining internal and external  factors that may influence your success. 1. Strengths  • What assets, skills or resources does your organization or project have that give it an advantage?  2. Weaknesses • What internal challenges, limitations or gaps could hinder success?  3. Opportunities • What external trends, partnerships or community conditions could help your project succeed?  4. Threats • What external risks, barriers, or competition could pose challenges?
Things to Avoid • Writing a list of tasks without describing the “why” or “how” behind them. • Setting vague or overly ambitious goals. • Skipping performance tracking or feedback mechanisms. • Overlooking internal weaknesses or external threats in your SWOT

    Findings/Results/Discussion – Week 12

    **Instructions**

For this assignment you will write the Findings/Results/Discussion section of your thesis. Set forth below is the explanation for this section from the
    _End of Program Manual_(EOP):

Findings/Results/Discussion: This section describes the results of the study. Keep in mind that the "results" are the direct observations of the research, while the "discussion" is the interpretation of the results and research. This should include, as appropriate:

    · results, including tables, graphs, statistics;

    · significance and interpretation of the results;

    · discussion of results as they relate to thesis statement/research question;

    · discussion of results as it relates to the theoretical framework/approach; and

    · directions for future research.

    **Technical Requirements**

    · Scholarly and credible references should be used. A good rule of thumb is at least 2 scholarly sources per page of content.

    · Type in Times New Roman, 12 point and double space.

    · Students will follow the current APA Style as the sole citation and reference style used in written work submitted as part of coursework.

    · Points will be deducted for the use of Wikipedia or encyclopedic type sources. It is highly advised to utilize books, peer-reviewed journals, articles, archived documents, etc.

    · All submissions will be graded using the assignment rubric.
