Project Title: Building and opening a new Toy4All store

Project Description: Toy4All toy store chain wants to open a new store in a small
town. For this project, the Director of the Projects Department assigned Mr. Play as the
project manager, an employee with five years of service in the company. He will have to
plan and coordinate all activities related to the new store's opening, which, unlike other
existing stores, will be equipped with a children's playground. He will need to consider
the activities: building the store, setting up the interior and the exterior, supplying the
store with toys, defining the personnel structure, and preparing the store for the
opening. Also, the details regarding advertising must not be forgotten. The project
duration is one year and will end with an opening event.
Due to the professionalism proven when building previous stores, the company decided
to work with the same building contractor (for the construction phase). By now, all
licenses and permits required to start the work have been obtained.
The role of Mr. Play will not be easy. He was assigned due to his idea to include a
playground in the store, which, once applied, should lead to increased sales figures.
While the entire management has supported the idea, some heads of departments in
the organization were not very pleased by his assignment, considering him too young

    Due on Oct 19, 2025 11:59 PM

and inexperienced for such a project. The most serious concerns are related to the
project's impact on the already planned activities that will support sales in the holiday
    season.

In the Assignment dropbox, please attach your paper as a file, do not copy &
    paste.

Submit your assignment by 11:59 PM ET, Day 7.

    Grading Rubric
A rubric is provided for your convenience that details how this assignment will be
graded. Please review it carefully prior to submitting your work.

    Instructions to the Author:
This is a template for developing a Risk Management Plan.
The template includes instructions to the author, boilerplate text, and fields that should be replaced with the values and
    information specific to the project.
Blue italicized text enclosed in boxes provide instructions to the document author, or describes the intent, assumptions, and
context for the content included in this document. This instructional text should be removed from the final document to make
    the plan more readable.
Text enclosed in angle brackets (<text>) indicates a field that should be replaced with information specific to a project.
Text in black and tables are provided as boilerplate examples of wording and formats that may be used or modified as required
to support a specific project. The information and outline is a suggestion to assist in developing project documents; they are not
mandatory formats. The author should tailor the content of the document to fit the project that this work product will support.

Risk Management is the process of identifying, analyzing, and responding to risk factors throughout the life of a project and in
the best interests of its objectives. Proper risk management implies control of possible future events and is proactive rather
    than reactive.
The purpose of risk management is to

    • Identify possible risks

    • Reduce or allocate risks

    • Provide a rational basis for better decision making about all risks

    • Plan
Assessing and managing risks is the best weapon against project catastrophes. By evaluating risks and the plan for potential
problems and developing strategies to address them, you’ll improve the chances of a successful, if not, perfect project.
    Additionally, continuous risk management will

    • Ensure high priority risks are aggressively managed and that all risks are cost-effectively managed throughout the project

    • Provide management at all levels with the information required to make informed decisions on issues critical to project
    success

If you don’t actively attack risks, they will actively attack your project.
DSS Project Management recommends the DSS Risk Assessment Toolkit as the starting point for developing the project risk
    management plan.

The most serious concerns are related to the
project's impact on the already planned activities that will support sales in the holiday
    season.

Marketing Communication Strategies in the Modern Era

In today’s business environment, marketing communication has evolved far beyond traditional media. Digital platforms, social media, and mobile marketing now dominate how organizations connect with consumers. Each strategy carries unique advantages and challenges. For example, digital marketing offers cost-effectiveness, real-time analytics, and precise audience targeting, while traditional media such as television and print still provide broad reach and emotional engagement. However, traditional advertising is expensive and less measurable, whereas digital methods allow for personalization and interactive engagement with consumers (Kotler et al., 2022).

In the real estate industry, where I plan to build my career, communication strategies increasingly rely on social media, email campaigns, and virtual tours. These tools provide immediate access to potential buyers and allow for showcasing properties in a more immersive way. Digital storytelling through platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook has replaced many conventional outreach methods by fostering trust and personal connection.

Although television advertising still carries influence, its dominance has diminished due to the rise of streaming platforms and on-demand content. Audiences today seek convenience and authenticity, which makes personalized digital strategies more effective.

For my final marketing plan, I will focus primarily on social media marketing and search engine optimization (SEO). These mediums best support engagement, visibility, and cost-efficiency while allowing data-driven adjustments to maximize impact. By integrating these strategies, businesses can better communicate value and maintain meaningful, ongoing relationships with their customers.

***Discussion Response(No more than 100-150 words) SO

The industry I may aspire to work in in the future is agriculture. Specifically I would love to own an orchard back in my hometown someday. The main business of my orchard would be of course selling produce domestically and internationally, but I would also enjoy having a farmstand for more local interaction and representation. Communication and marketing strategies that would help build up this farmstand’s business would be a diverse communications mix.

I would say the most predominant means of communication for such a business especially locally, are going to be rooted in word of mouth. Word of mouth may be truly face to face communication, but I believe it can also be more broadly represented by trust in recognized and verified social media influencers with ties to the community. At a global corporation level authenticity in the valid use and benefit of the product is important from a social media perspective. For a local business this is true also, but the individual speaking on your farmstands behalf should also be recognized as a local or as having roots in the venture. These individuals and this advertisement channel is built upon the idea of welcoming others into a story. Customers who engage with the content are shown what a day at the farmstand could look like with family and friends. This advertising is not disruptive, but is enhancing. TV advertising has many benefits, but arguably not many of those benefits apply to my use case.

Advertising for a farmstand does not require a captive audience and interactive advertising is encouraged. In other words customers are already searching for opportunities to engage in the experience and social media as a platform provides options for people to enjoy their weekends. The interactions with such content is also in itself part of the experience and enhances customers interaction with the ‘service’. Put simply a customer may be looking for something fun and local to do on the weekend and then socially or mentally receives additional benefit posting their experience. As this happens I gain free advertising and valuable business feedback. Traditional advertising channels such as TV don’t provide the appropriate level of audience reach and they do not build trust in the same way with the audience. Someone watching the super-bowl in Texas is not interested in my farmstand in Oregon. While there are ways to tailor your advertising to more local areas, I would be skeptical as to the real number of members being reached, but also doubt that a TV commercial would build the same level of trust and confidence in the farmstand as a post or story on social media. Social media allows for real time updates unlike TV advertisement giving opportunities to promote sales or events without hiring an acting team, editing team, and paying to sit in the que between pharmaceutical commercials. I think the defining differences is whether your product is likely to be sought after. Pharmaceutical companies don’t necessarily have customers searching for their products, or following influencers on social media who promote the lifestyle. Therefore, they must advertise to their audience in a one way and captured form. This channel would not be cost effective or necessary for me advertising a farmstand. Not all traditional advertising is lost though, as I do believe a cheap and quick add in the local radio or newspaper may be of benefit for capturing and older or alternative audience who may like to visit the farmstand, but appreciates the older mediums of communication.

Taking a bit of a turn here I believe the final question for our discussion post this week is intended to be geared toward our final projects. In that case the company I am building a marketing strategy for is Harley-Davidson. The company currently relies on a number of communications channels and has kept their message fairly consistent. They have a great website, good SEO, great user generated content, and a strong social media presence. They undoubtedly advertise directly through emails, they do sponsor events, rides, and clubs, and their physical brand image above each of their dealerships is a beacon for new and old riders alike. While there is a challenge in cutting through the noise of the online world, I believe a revitalized social media approach with a focus on story telling / visualization for the younger / rider of the future would be my suggested focus. Without alienating old motorcycle veterans, Harley-Davidson needs to put an emphasis on building on tradition and legacy thoughtfully. A storied focus on something like ‘the world is changing, but the ride never changes’. With that statement at heart, Harley Davidson needs to flood the social media channels with direct user generated content displaying how younger or new riders are exploring the world rebelliously on their new bikes. Being that the younger audience is my target demographic, I would like to do research on how well direct advertising works or if we are wasting money there. Personally at 28 I have signed up for quite a number of email groups to save 10% or get rewards. I am bombarded with direct advertising. Of the 100,000+ emails I have received, I have maybe earnestly opened 30 of them. Usually it is because the subject line appears alarming in some way haha. So with all of this said – I plan to dive into demographics research to define my target audience well and then consistently employ an enhanced social media effort to attract new customers and enhance the older customers story of their historic rides. Of course all advertising to some degree is a wager, and if customer feedback was negative, social media will give me a far more responsive means to course correct than would be available through traditional advertising channels.

Verizon Communications Inc. is a global telecommunications leader known for using its platform not only to connect people through technology but also to advance social good. One example of Verizon’s social-change-focused marketing is its “All Our Thanks” campaign, which celebrated the diversity of frontline workers and their communities during the COVID-19 pandemic. The initiative highlighted Verizon’s commitment to inclusion by showcasing individuals from different racial, cultural, gender, and professional backgrounds who kept the world connected and cared for others during a crisis. Through television ads, social media videos, and digital storytelling, Verizon emphasized unity, gratitude, and the idea that connectivity transcends differences.
    Impact of the Marketing Effort
The campaign strengthened Verizon’s brand image as an inclusive, socially responsible company. It built emotional resonance with a wide audience by promoting appreciation across diverse communities and occupations. The messaging reinforced Verizon’s corporate values of “humanity, respect, and inclusion”—values that align with its internal diversity and equity goals. In terms of business outcomes, the campaign helped increase consumer loyalty and positive brand perception, demonstrating that customers are more likely to support brands that align with their values. Verizon’s focus on community engagement also led to greater employee pride and stronger partnerships with organizations supporting diversity, such as the National Urban League and Human Rights Campaign.
    Positive Social Change Impact
By promoting diversity and inclusion through its marketing, Verizon contributes to a culture of belonging and mutual respect. Campaigns like “All Our Thanks” and its ongoing #VerizonInnovateLearning initiative—which provides digital access and STEM education to underrepresented youth—serve as catalysts for positive social change. These efforts help bridge the digital divide, encourage representation in technology fields, and inspire other corporations to integrate social good into their marketing practices.
Ultimately, Verizon’s inclusive marketing illustrates how powerful storytelling and brand visibility can challenge stereotypes, celebrate cultural differences, and mobilize communities toward empathy and equality. When companies like Verizon use their influence for inclusion, they not only strengthen their market position but also model how business can be a force for unity and progress.

A good example of a marketing campaign that was focused on social change is the "Real Beauty" campaign by Dove, which is owned by Unilever. In addition, the campaign was focused on promoting diversity and inclusion by breaking down beauty standards, and featuring women of different shapes, sizes, ages, and ethnic backgrounds in their advertisements. By featuring real women instead of professional models, Dove was able to establish itself as a brand that is authentic and inclusive. Marketing campaign with a focus on television commercials, social media marketing, and interactive internet marketing was conducted to encourage women to take pride in their natural beauty (Gynn, 2020).
Dove's campaign had an impact on the company and on society. For Dove, the initiative was a way of building brand loyalty, consumer engagement and of differentiating themselves from their competition through their clearly defined commitment to social values. From a social perspective, the campaign had a great impact and made women realize how they look and accept them for what they are without being too self-conscious to fit in a certain mold. Dove, by showcasing a variety of models, extended the criteria of socially accepted beauty and created inclusive and broken destructive stereotypes (Zalis, 2019).
As campaigns like Dove one demonstrates, companies can utilize their platform to make a positive social impact and support their business at the same time. When you focus on the cause that matters to your target audience, you will be able to earn consumer trust, build goodwill, and drive brand advocacy. For instance, the fact that minority groups are being represented in Dove's advertisements not only helped advance the cause of diversity, but the action of other companies followed suit which increased the positive social impact. This shows that CSR marketing will easily work in business-profit and social welfare, and it is a powerful tool for business and societal growth (Adhikary, 2019).

    **The Strategic Power of Inquiry**
There were systemic inventory anomalies in one of the multinational pharmaceutical supply chain companies where I work as a senior operations analyst, whose inventory problem was not being addressed by the established traditional auditing guidelines. I refrained from purchasing the attribution being presented by management due to vendor unreliability. I applied some strategic reframing questions to conduct an executive briefing: What processes could be implemented in organizations without the intent to promote misreporting? What conflicts might occur between accuracy and efficiency in our measures of performance? What operational realities are we otherwise not factoring in in our present construct? This questionnaire's action made the established narratives wobbly, initiating further formation of systems analysis, which jeopardized our bonus structure for having disloyal warehouse employees during the capture of delays. Consequently, they promptly invented inventory confirmation. This was followed by policy restructuring, resulting from consultations with frontline workers, which narrowed the discrepancies by 61% over two fiscal quarters. At the same time, it boosted employee satisfaction metrics, indicating that psychological safety is catalytic to organizational learning, as revealed by Edmondson and Bransby (2023).
The organizational defensiveness would be avoided because of the epistemological positioning of my inquiry. I also purposefully used relationship-building questions instead of telling, asking questions such as, "What are we possibly missing?" In which collective ownership was stated as a frame, thus avoiding it, it must be acceptable to make the accusation. Moreover, the careful use of gradual perception rather than confrontational criticism enabled leaders to build an alternative Darwinism step by step, rather than being forced to confront it. This strategy transformed acts that could have posed a threat into a joint knowledge-building process. Furthermore, I adjusted my questioning tone to an organizational focus on organizational preparedness, supported by the fact that time- and date-timely questions, asked at the right time, may provoke productive cognitive dissonance that enables paradigm shifting to counter the rapid reflex responses that typify premature inquiry (Gino and Staats, 2020).
The use of retrospective analysis, complemented by current literature on adaptive leadership, helps highlight some opportunities to refine better praxis. Earlier application of generative questions — identifying potential possibilities and problems — would help future interventions, possibly with the question: What organizational circumstances would make accurate reporting feel intrinsically rewarding? Most importantly, Gino and Staats (2020) emphasized that the need to develop sustained questioning rhythms, rather than discrete interventions, fosters inquiry as an organizational infrastructure rather than a crisis response and externalizes sustained adaptive capacity. Moving on, I would initiate built-in reflection procedures that incorporate questioning as part of daily operations evaluations, such that interrogative practice becomes institutionalized in an organizational culture and does not rely solely on individual ability to generate questions in times of crisis.

As a Basic Skills Instructor at the Coastal Adult Learning Center (CALC), I encountered a challenge where adult learners were consistently disengaged during virtual instruction. During a faculty meeting, I posed the critical question: _“How might our current instructional delivery methods be unintentionally limiting engagement for adult learners with diverse learning needs and technological barriers?”_ I deliberately framed the question to focus on systemic and instructional factors rather than student deficits, which helped foster a non-defensive, collaborative atmosphere among colleagues. I tailored my approach by using inclusive language and referencing shared goals—such as learner success and retention—to encourage open dialogue. This led to a productive discussion where faculty shared strategies and concerns, ultimately resulting in the adoption of more interactive tools, flexible pacing, and hybrid learning options. These changes improved learner participation and satisfaction.
Reflecting on the situation and drawing from insights in strategic questioning frameworks, I realize that I could have involved learners more directly in the process. In the future, I would incorporate learner feedback through surveys or informal interviews before initiating the conversation with colleagues. This would ensure that the questions I raise are grounded in learner experience and promote equity in decision-making. Strategic questioning, when used thoughtfully, can uncover root causes and foster inclusive, solution-oriented dialogue (Brown & Isaacs, 2005).
