    Assignment Prompt & Instructions

THE STORY BOAQRD POWER POINT IS ATTACHED
In this activity, you will begin shooting scenes for your final film in accordance with your storyboard and script outline.
It is finally time to bring your storyboard to life. Using your script and storyboard as a guide, you will start filming scenes on your iPad, phone, or camera. It is okay if your recordings do not align perfectly with what you have planned out, but aim to stay close to your original vision. It is often better for your overall product to dial back grandiose ideas in favor of what is doable.
You are not expected to have all of your film shot for this assignment, but you will need to wrap up shooting before the editing phase begins in Week 4.
By the end of this assignment, you will be able to record your own video.
    ## Instructions
    1. Review your storyboard(s) and select the scene or scenes you would like to start shooting.
    2. Review your Week 3 PowerPoint for tips on recording video and audio.
    3. Begin filming the scenes you selected from your storyboard. How you do this will heavily depend on your concept, so please reach out to me for individual assistance if needed.
5 or more video clips matching scenes described in storyboard and script outline are submitted

    **Scenario**

You recently started a new position as a nurse manager in a 28-bed oncology unit. One of the staff nurses who returned from bereavement leave one week prior has been assigned to care for an elderly client, newly diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer. While you are visiting with the client, the nurse completes the assessment. During the client interview, the client requested assistance to set up hospice care, complete an advanced directive, and reach out to their estranged daughter. The nurse stated, "I can get you the paperwork for the advance directive, but I can't call your child for you; I do not specialize in mental health." The nurse leaves the room and asks to speak with you, stating, "I can't care for this client; I need my client assignment changed now or else I will go home."

As the nurse manager, you agree to change the nurse's client assignment and offer to assist the client with their requests. Later, you debrief the nurse regarding their reactions and decisions with this client and make recommendations regarding how the nurse could have responded differently. You write a summary of the events and debrief with the nurse.

    **Instructions**

Compose a written memo of the situation and debrief for the employee's personnel file.

Include the following in the memo:

    · Analysis of the cues impacting the responses of the staff nurse and the nurse manager.

    · Description of how these cues influenced the clinical decision-making of both nurses, including supporting rationales and examples.

    · Prioritized strategies the nurse could use for self-compassion and compassion toward others when demonstrating emotional intelligence, including supporting rationales, examples, and credible resources.

    · Alternative responses more appropriate for the nurse and nurse manager, including supporting rationales, examples, and credible resources.

Submit a Word document with your memo.

    Patient: M.T., 44-year-old warehouse supervisor
Chief concern (Day 1): “Bad low-back pain after lifting a box.”
Home AI tool: Patient uses the health system’s portal symptom-checker chatbot. After entering “low back pain,”
“both legs tingling,” “can’t feel when wiping,” and “peeing less than usual,” the bot outputs “likely muscular
strain home care; clinic visit in 3–5 days.” No red-flag alert is displayed.
    Course:
    • Day 2–3: Pain worsens; bilateral sciatica, saddle numbness, and urinary retention (“I haven’t peed since
last night unless I strain”). The bot again recommends home care.
    • Day 4 (ED): Patient febrile, hypotensive, confused. Bladder scan >1200 mL; purulent urine after
catheterization. MRI lumbar: massive central L4–L5 disc herniation compressing cauda equina.
    • Labs: Leukocytosis, lactate 5.2 mmol/L, creatinine bump.
    • Outcome: Despite urgent decompression and broad-spectrum antibiotics/ICU care, the patient develops
uroseptic shock with multi-organ failure and dies on Day 6.
Studies show online/AI symptom-checkers vary widely in diagnostic/triage accuracy and may miss

    Purpose

This assignment is intended to help you learn to identify the line of reasoning of a literature review.

    Overview

    **Examine a sample literature review**

In this assignment, we will examine a published literature review to identify its
_line of reasoning_, or a logical progression of ideas and evidence that support a central claim or thesis of a scholarly writing. In Chapter 9, Galvan & Galvan (2017) refer to line of reasoning as
    _line of argument_.

Review Sample Literature Review 5 in Appendix B of Galvan & Galvin (2017):

    · Kosko, K.W., & Miyazaki, Y. (2012). The effect of student discussion frequency on fifth-grade students’ mathematics achievement in U.S. Schools.
_The Journal of Experimental Education, 80_(2), 173-195.

    **Create an outline**

To identify the line of reasoning, you will first create an outline of the literature review. You can review the example outlines in Chapter 9 of Galvan & Galvan (2017) for guidance.

Draft your outline to account for all the material in the review, including the introduction, body, and final sections. Your outline should help you to identify the logical progression of ideas in the literature review.

You will include this outline in your discussion post.

    **Identify the line of reasoning**

To get to the line of reasoning, you might ask yourself, "What choices do the authors make in the beginning, middle, or end?" "How do the various sections of the work together to support the thesis or central claim?"

In your discussion post, respond to these two prompts:

    · Describe the central claim or questions that the review centers on.

    · Explain how the writers support this claim or explore this question.

Writer's Journal: Identifying Central Claims & Lines of Reasoning Due Nov 2

    Purpose

This assignment is intended to help you learn to do identify the line of reasoning of a literature review.

    Overview

In this entry in your Writer’s Journal, you will analyze your own line of reasoning. Return to your Research Area Primer and analyze the following:

    · What are your central claims?

    · How have you structured your line of reasoning?

    · What sources will you select from your primer to build your literature review?

    · How do these sources support your logical progression of ideas, or line of reasoning?

If your central claims or line of reasoning is unclear, note that in your Writer’s Journal entry and describe what you need to do to clarify these elements.

Revise your Research Area Primer accordingly. Acknowledging and addressing these missing elements is critical to moving forward.
