    Be sure to review the
    [academic expectations](https://agmu.instructure.com/courses/1876/pages/expectations-and-best-practices-for-assignments) for your submission.

    **Submission Instructions**

Read the following text. Reformat the text by ensuring the text meets the five traits we studied in this module: 1) Clarity; 2) Conciseness; 3) Accessible document design/Format; 4) Audience Recognition/ Appropriateness, and 5) Accuracy/Correctness. Make sure you look carefully at the five traits and any problems with an agreement in the use of pronouns and verbs.

These are the instructions for you to be able to insert an online picture into your PowerPoint.

First of all, you should have your PowerPoint presentation open. If you do not have a picture you want on your computer, you can find an online picture that you can add to the presentation. You can use the option of Bing Image Search: You can use this option to search the Internet for images. By default, Bing only displays licensed images under Creative Commons, which means you can use them for your projects. However, you should go to the image's website where it is published to figure out if there are any restrictions on how it can be used. The user will need to complete an exploration of and click on the Insert ribbon. You will, at that point, search for the Images grouping chooses Online Pictures. A dialog box will show up with a search box powered by Bing. Enter keywords for the image you want to discover. Please select the image that it wants to utilize by choosing the image by checking the box in the upper left-hand corner of the image (you can select multiple images). Click Insert in the bottom right-hand corner of the dialog box. Your photo (s) will be visible in the current slide. A new ribbon, called Picture Tools, will appear, allowing you to edit the image within the slide in your presentation.

Once you finish, use the Five Trait Self-Assessment table presented in this module. You will need to upload two documents:

    · The re-written instructions on how to add an online image to a PowerPoint presentation, and

The Five Trait Self-Assessment table with your answers to the questions

    · Submit your assignment by 11:59 pm ET on Sunday.

    · Review the rubric to determine how your assignment will be graded.

    · Your assignment will be run through Turnitin to check for plagiarism. Please check your results, make any necessary corrections, and resubmit a revised copy if the system identifies issues. If you are new to Turnitin,

    Measures Used in Epidemiology

![A close-up of hands holding a pen and a notebook AI-generated content may be incorrect.](https://www.sweetstudy.com/questions/measures-used-in-epidemiology-20893735)One important application of epidemiology is to identify factors that could increase the likelihood of a certain health problem occurring within a specific population. Epidemiologists use
_measures of effect_ to examine the association or linkage in the relationship between risk factors and emergence of disease or ill health. For instance, they may use measures of effect to better understand the relationships between poverty and lead poisoning in children, smoking and heart disease, or low birth weight and future motor skills. The following are some common measures used in epidemiology:

    ·
**Odds ratio**: The odds ratio quantifies the association between an independent variable (exposure) and a dependent variable (outcome). It is calculated as the odds that an effect will occur given the presence or exposure to a studied variable, compared to the odds when there is no exposure (e.g., lung cancer and smoking)

    ·
**Risk ratio (also called relative risk)**: Also quantifies the association between an independent variable and a dependent variable. The risk of an effect occurring in one population versus another population (e.g., preeclampsia in women <35 versus >35). Risks greater than one suggest that exposure to a given variable is associated with an increase in the risk of the outcome, and a risk ratio of less than one indicates that the exposure is associated with a decrease in the risk of the outcome.

    ·
**Mortality**: Measure of deaths in a particular population during a specified time interval. If this is attributed to a specific cause, it is referred to as cause-specific mortality.

    ·
**Morbidity**: Measure of instances of illness or disability in a population from a given cause (e.g., heart disease) during a specified time interval

    ·
**Incidence**: The occurrence of new cases of an effect or disease in a population over a defined time period relative to the size of the population at risk (e.g., new cases of COVID-19 in a population over a 7-day period/1000 people)

    ·
**Prevalence**: The number of all cases of an effect or disease, not just new ones, in a population at a given time relative to the size of the population (e.g., number of people with autism/1000)

What is the significance of these measures of effect for nursing practice? In this Discussion, you will consider this pivotal question.
