**Using Microsoft Excel to conduct ANOVA procedures**

The steps required for completing the deliverables for this assignment, including screen shots that correspond to these instructions, are outlined below.
Complete the questions below and paste the answers from Excel below each question (type your answers to the questions
**_where noted_**). Therefore, your response to the lab will be this ONE submitted document.

**_Context:_** _Remember that statistics are far more than numbers or values – you need to know the context to perform a good analysis!_

**Study:** A nurse practitioner is studying the effect of blood sugar (glucose) control, which involves collecting the average daily AC and QHS (fasting) blood sugar levels of the patients to determine if there is relationship between these and the patients’ Hemoglobin A1C level. She hypothesizes that good blood sugar control will result in ideal Hemoglobin A1C levels and inadequate control of the patients’ blood sugar will result in high Hemoglobin A1C levels.

She also tracks other factors that may contribute to the patients’ control of their blood sugar such as carbohydrate intake, age, frequency of glucose checks, and insurance coverage of diabetic supplies.

**Hemoglobin:** Ideal Hemoglobin A1C levels for patients are 6 or 7, a value of 8 or 9 merits concern, values 10 and up are considered severely uncontrolled, while values less than 6 are rare in diabetic patients. 4 and 5 can be found normally in patients that are not diabetic.

**Blood Sugar:** Glucose levels under 70 are considered low, between 70 and 110 is considered normal, 111 to 170 is considered moderately high, and values above 170 are considered high. There is some debate on the cut points, however, these are the values used to categorize glucose levels in this study.

**Glucose _Range:** This is a categorical variable describing the group into which the patient’s glucose level places them: low, normal, moderately high, and high.

**Glucose_Group:** This is a numeric variable containing the same information as the Glucose_Range, however, the numeric value assigned to each group can be used in analysis that requires a ratio or interval level of measurement. Low is assigned a 1, Normal is assigned a 2, Moderately High is assigned a 3, and High is assigned a 4.

**Carbohydrates:** Diabetic patients try to consume 14 servings of carbohydrates daily where each serving is approximately 15 grams. This study tracks the average grams of carbohydrates consumed on a daily basis by these patients.

**Age_Range:** This is a Categorical Variable where each patient is classified by age: under 10, 11 – 16, 17 – 25, 26 – 40, 41 – 60, and over 60.

**Age_Group:** This is a numeric variable that contains the same information as the Age_Range, however, the numeric value assigned to each group can be used in analysis that requires a ratio or interval level of measurement. Each patient is classified by age: under 10 is assigned a 0, 11 – 16 is assigned a 1, 17 – 25 is assigned a 2, 26 – 40 is assigned a 3, 41 – 60 is assigned a 4, and over 60 is assigned a 5.

**Insurance:** This is a categorical variable that describes if the patient’s insurance covers diabetic supplies. Yes/No.

**Insurance_Group:** This is a numeric variable that describes the same information as the Insurance variable; however, the numeric value assigned to each group can be used in analysis that requires a ratio or interval level of measurement. Yes is assigned a 1 and No is assigned a 0.

**Frequency:** This numeric variable describes how many daily checks of their glucose level are typically performed on a given day for each diabetic patient.

**Review the Microsoft Excel information on ANOVA:** [https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/use-the-analysis-toolpak-to-perform-complex-data-analysis-6c67ccf0-f4a9-487c-8dec-bdb5a2cefab6](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/use-the-analysis-toolpak-to-perform-complex-data-analysis-6c67ccf0-f4a9-487c-8dec-bdb5a2cefab6)

Scroll down to ANOVA, and click to expand:

![](https://www.sweetstudy.com/questions/mathematics-three-assignments)

One of the first steps in the performance of an analysis of variance (ANOVA) is to validate the assumptions necessary for use of the test:

· Examine descriptive statistics for each of the independent variable’s groups and the Levene statistic to assess if the variances are equal. The F statistic used in the ANOVA test can be robust to unequal variances if the samples sizes are approximately equal. However, our first step is always to test the equality of the variances.

· It is also advisable to perform a plot of the means to get a visual indication of where you may expect to find similarities and differences among the groups.

· We will use Excel and request the descriptive statistics, and a plot of the Means (Box & Whisker) as well as calculate the F-Statistic with its significance.

· After the initial analysis, we will then perform an analysis using contrasts to target specific groups indicated by the data:

· Is there truly a difference between the low and normal groups?

· Is there a difference between the moderately high and high groups?

· Is there a difference between the normal and moderately high groups?

Then we perform the analysis.

**To obtain a One-Way ANOVA using Microsoft Excel**

1. Open the HealthCareData.xlsx file using Microsoft Excel.

2. First, we want to test the equality of the variances. From the From Data Analysis menu, select F-Test Two-Sample for Variances. Click OK.

![](https://www.sweetstudy.com/questions/mathematics-three-assignments)

3. In the window that comes up, select the data under the Hemoglobin column for the Variable 1 Range, and the data under the Glucose_Group column for the Variable 2 Range.

![](https://www.sweetstudy.com/questions/mathematics-three-assignments)

4. Click OK to examine the output and perform an initial analysis of what you see.

5. To obtain the One-Way ANOVA, the variables that you are going to be investigating must be in adjacent columns. To get Hemoglobin and Glucose_Group aligned next to each other, insert a column next to one of the variables, and copy/paste the other variable into the newly-created column. From there, from the Data Analysis menu, select Anova: Single Factor. Click OK.

![](https://www.sweetstudy.com/questions/mathematics-three-assignments)

6. For the Input Range, select the two columns of data under the headers Hemoglobin and Glucose_Group. Note you will be selected
_both_ columns of data. Click OK.

7. Create a Box Plot of the data as well. Highlight both columns of data and click Insert, Charts, Box & Whisker. Click OK.

![](https://www.sweetstudy.com/questions/mathematics-three-assignments)

8. Examine the output and compare it to the results from the Data Analysis output assessing Anova: Single Factor. Review the results.
**_This is the point at which you perform a contextual analysis of the output_**.

9. Think about it: Were the assumptions for ANOVA met? Can we proceed even if they aren’t? Under what circumstances? What did the data and tests show us about the two variables and the groups involved?

**Using Microsoft Excel Statistics to calculate the various T-Tests**

The steps required for completing the deliverables for this assignment, including screen shots that correspond to these instructions, are outlined below.
Complete the questions below and paste the answers from Excel below each question (type your answers to the questions
**_where noted_**). Therefore, your response to the lab will be this ONE submitted document.

**_Context:_** _Remember that statistics are far more than numbers or values – you need to know the context to perform a good analysis!_

1.
**Independent Samples:** Patients diagnosed with depression according to the Beck Depression Inventory are randomly assigned to receive a Placebo vs. Lexapro for their treatment. Reassessment occurs at four weeks.

**Note**: Moderate Depression is indicated by a score of 21 or more when using the Beck Depression Inventory. Patients scoring 30 or more would not qualify for this study as they would need more intense treatment and would not be given a placebo.

2.
**Paired Sample T-Test:** Assess the effectiveness of the hospital’s diabetic education program by comparing pre-teaching and post-teaching test scores for new diabetics on disease management.

**Note**: These patients cannot be discharged until they pass their posttest and insurance typically will not pay for the hospital stay if they leave against medical advice (AMA).

**Review the Microsoft Excel information on T-Tests:** [https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/use-the-analysis-toolpak-to-perform-complex-data-analysis-6c67ccf0-f4a9-487c-8dec-bdb5a2cefab6](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/use-the-analysis-toolpak-to-perform-complex-data-analysis-6c67ccf0-f4a9-487c-8dec-bdb5a2cefab6)

Scroll down to t-Test, and click to expand:

![](https://www.sweetstudy.com/questions/mathematics-three-assignments)

Review the entire write-up on the Two-Sample t-Test:

![](https://www.sweetstudy.com/questions/mathematics-three-assignments)

1.
**Independent Samples t-Test:** The Independent Samples t-Test procedure compares means for two groups of cases. Ideally, for this test, the subjects should be randomly assigned to two groups, so that any difference in response is due to the treatment (or lack of treatment) and not to other factors.
**Example**. Patients with high blood pressure are randomly assigned to a placebo group and a treatment group. The placebo subjects receive an inactive pill, and the treatment subjects receive a new drug that is expected to lower blood pressure. After the subjects are treated for two months, the 2-Sample t-Test is used to compare the average blood pressures for the placebo group and the treatment group. Each patient is measured once and belongs to one group.

**Note**: Patients with high blood pressure are not normally left untreated – this is an ethical question that arises all the time in healthcare studies. Could one ethically conduct such a study? Would such a study receive approval from the administration and medical boards? What legal issues would need to be addressed?

The Independent Samples t-Test is appropriate whenever two means drawn from independent samples are to be compared. The variable used to form the groups may already exist; however, a cut point on a continuous variable can be provided to dynamically create the groups during the analysis. As with all t-Tests, the Independent Samples t-Test assumes that each sample mean comes from a population that is reasonably normally distributed, especially with respect to skewness. Test variables with extreme or outlying values should be carefully checked; boxplots can be used for this.

1. Open the HealthCareData.xlsx file using Microsoft Excel.

2. Add a new worksheet into your workbook. Copy and paste the following data into the new worksheet:

· Original_BDI (Column C)

· BDI_Treatment (Column D)

· Second_BDI (Column E)

3. Highlight the header names in those columns and from the Home tab, select Sort & Filter, and Filter.

![](https://www.sweetstudy.com/questions/mathematics-three-assignments)

4. Click the arrow next to the BDI_Treatment header, and sort the column from A to Z. This alphabetizes the data and makes it easier to see which group was in the placebo trial, and which group was in the medication trial.

![](https://www.sweetstudy.com/questions/mathematics-three-assignments)

5. We are first going to see if there is a difference in Original_BDI between those who have been put into the treatment group versus the placebo group. From Data Analysis menu, select t-Test: Two-Sample Assuming Equal Variances. Click OK.

![](https://www.sweetstudy.com/questions/mathematics-three-assignments)

6. For Variable 1 Range, in the Original_BDI column, select those associated with the treatment trial. For Variable 2 Range, in the Original_BDI column, select those associated with the placebo.

![](https://www.sweetstudy.com/questions/mathematics-three-assignments)

7. Click OK to perform the t-Test and view the results in the output window. Review the results.
**_This is the point at which you perform a contextual analysis of the output_**.

8. Copy and paste your results below. Think about it: Were all the assumptions for a t-Test with independent samples met? What did the t-Test show? Are the results significant?

—

9. Now repeat the test with the following inputs:
For Variable 1 Range, in the Second_BDI column, select those associated with the treatment trial. For Variable 2 Range, in the Second_BDI column, select those associated with the placebo.

10. Click OK to perform the t-Test and view the results in the output window. Review the results.
**_This is the point at which you perform a contextual analysis of the output_**.

11. Copy and paste your results below. Think about it: What did the t-Test show? Are the results significant? What conclusions would you draw about the effectiveness of treatment on depression?

—

2.
**Paired-Sample T-Test**

1. If necessary open the HealthCareData.xlsx file using Microsoft Excel.

2. From Data Analysis menu, select t-Test: Paired Two Sample for Means. Click OK.

![](https://www.sweetstudy.com/questions/mathematics-three-assignments)

3. Input for Variable 1 should be: Diab_Pretest (the data in Column H);
Input for Variable 2 should be: Diab_Posttest (the data in Column I).

![](https://www.sweetstudy.com/questions/mathematics-three-assignments)

Click OK then review the results. This is where you begin the contextual analysis.

4. Paste the resulting output table below. Then think about it: Patients need to score 95% or better to be discharged. Was the teaching program effective? While the test may have indicated the means of the two groups were indeed significantly different, is this all the hospital needs to assess their teaching effectiveness? What other follow up analysis would you recommend?

3. Input for Variable 1 should be: Diab_Pretest (the data in Column H);

Chapter 16 – Global Health Nursing

Community health nurses work with populations that vary from country to country, and to serve them

appropriately requires an understanding of the ways in which the context in which they are located interacts with their health status and health histories. Student nurses are spending a month in Africa reviewing global health and international community health nursing.

1. The student nurses are required to examine the population in Africa to assess the kinds of health

conditions the population experiences. What is the context and framework for delivering community-

based nursing within the context of global health?

2. The student nurses are examining the impact of disease patterns on the health of the population of

Africa. What is the demographic transition theory, and what demographic trends should the student

nurses expect to find in Africa based on this theory?

3. The student nurses are exploring the social determinants of health in Africa and how these

affect the global burden of disease in these countries. What is the global burden of disease,

and how would the student nurses go about calculating this metric for the countries in Africa

they are studying?

My signature entered below constitutes my pledge that all the writing in this document is my own work, except for those portions which are properly documented and cited. I understand and accept the following definition of plagiarism:

1. Plagiarism includes the literal repetition without acknowledgment of the writings of another author. All significant phrases, clauses, or passages in this paper which have been taken directly from source material have been enclosed in quotation marks and acknowledged in the text itself as well as on the Reference page.

2. Plagiarism includes borrowing another’s ideas and representing them as my own.

3. To paraphrase the thoughts of another writer without acknowledgement is plagiarism.

4. Plagiarism also includes inadequate paraphrasing. Paraphrased passages (those put into my own words) have been properly acknowledged in the text and in the references.

5. Plagiarism includes using another person or organization to prepare this paper and then submitting it as my own work.

6. Plagiarism includes resubmitting my own previous work, in whole, or in part for a current assignment without the written consent of the current instructor.

**Saint Leo University’s core value of integrity** requires that students pledge to be honest, just, and consistent in word and deed. I fully understand what plagiarism is, and I further understand that if plagiarism is detected in my paper, my professor will follow the procedures for academic dishonesty set forth by Saint Leo University, the Donald R. Tapia College of Business and the Graduate Student Handbook.

**Abstract [Centered, Bold]**

Start the abstract flush with the left margin; do not indent. According to the
_Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association_(APA), “An abstract is a brief, comprehensive summary of the contents of the paper” (APA, 2020, p. 38). It allows readers to survey the contents of an article quickly and, like a title, it enables persons interested in the document to retrieve it from abstracting and indexing databases. The first line of the abstract is not indented. An abstract may range from 150 to 250 words (APA, 2020). Because an abstract is not always required for student papers, adhere to your instructor’s requirements.

_Keywords:_ Follow the abstract with a selection of keywords that describe the important ideas or subjects in your paper. These help online readers search for your paper in a database.

The keyword list should have its first line indented 0.5 inches. keywords are written in lowercase (except for proper nouns) and separated by commas. Do not place a period at the end of the list.

****Title of Your Paper [Centered, Bold]****
Begin your paper on the next double-spaced line after the title, and indent all paragraphs 1/2 inch. In the updated manual on p. 154, writers are asked to include only
**one space** between sentences rather than two spaces. When writing in APA style, you have two choices for in-text citations: narrative citations or parenthetical citations. According to a fictitious book by Harding and Jiménez (2020), a narrative citation occurs when you include “authors’ names as part of your sentence” (p. 24). Furthermore, Harding and Jiménez (2020) explain that you only need to provide a page number at the end of a narrative citation when directly quoting from the source. If the authors’ names do not appear in your sentence, you will use a “parenthetical citation” (Harding & Jiménez, 2020, p. 24). Similar to the above example, you only need to include a page number when quoting the authors’ original words (Harding & Jiménez, 2020). The APA manual summarizes these rules and related concepts on pp. 261-264.

**All Headings Are Bold and Written in Title Case (Level 1, Bold, Centered)**

You can read more about formatting section headings in the APA manual on pp. 47-49. Not included in this template is a level 5 heading, which is virtually identical to a level 4 heading, except it is italicized. According to the APA (2020), “The number of levels of heading needed for a paper depends on its length and complexity; three is average. … [S]hort student papers may not require any headings” (p. 48).

**New Rules for Citations (Level 2, Bold, Left Justified)**

**_First Rule_(Level 3, Flush Left, Italicized, Bold, No Punctuation)**

Begin indented paragraph on the next line.
A couple of important new rules concerning in-text citations appear in the APA manual. The first pertains to citing works by three or more authors. Instead of writing each author’s name in the first citation, then utilizing the abbreviation “et al.” for all subsequent citations, the APA advises writers to use the “et al.” abbreviation for
_every_ in-text citation for works by three or more authors. For example, my first in-text citation for a work by three authors would look like this (Harris et al., 2020). This new guideline reduces the amount of clutter created by listing each author’s name. You can read more about the use of “et al.” on p. 266 of the APA manual.

**_Second Rule_**

The other significant change to in-text citation formatting has to do with repeating narrative citations. For example, if I am writing a paragraph focused specifically on the work of Brown (2016), I would need to provide the year in parenthesis only after the
_first_ reference to Brown. As you can see, I could write more about the groundbreaking work of Brown without cluttering my paragraph with multiple in-text citations containing the year. However, if I am referencing more than one work by Brown, I must provide a complete in-text citation after
_each_ reference to Brown. That way, my reader won’t be confused. I would also need to provide the year in any parenthetical citation referencing the author (Brown, 2016). This new rule is described on pp. 265-266 in the APA manual.

**Similar Rule. (Level 4, Indented, Plain Text, Begins Paragraph, Punctuated)** In a similar vein, if I am writing a long paraphrase of a single work, I need to provide only one in-text citation at the beginning of the paragraph as long as “the context of the writing makes it clear that the same work continues to be paraphrased” (APA, 2020, p. 269). In other words, I could continue to write more about how the manual provides a helpful figure of this rule on p. 270. I would not need to provide a citation when telling you that if the paraphrase is long enough to warrant the creation of a new paragraph, you will need to provide an in-text citation at the top of the new paragraph. As you can see, I am still discussing the APA manual in a specific context, so I am not required to cite the manual again in this paragraph unless I introduce information from a new source. Even so, if you think your professor or reader might question where you found a certain piece of information, it won’t hurt to provide an extra citation or two.

**Punctuating In-Text Citations**

So far, you might have noticed that parenthetical citations typically appear
_before_ the sentence’s end punctuation, because the parenthetical citation is just another element belonging to the sentence. However, there is one specific instance when the parenthetical citation comes
_after_ the end punctuation. In the case of block quotations (a quotation of 40 words or more), you will introduce the quotation and demarcate it using special indentation:

Pretend that this is the beginning of the block quotation. First, notice that this long quotation is not surrounded by marks. It is the
_only_ time in your paper where you will quote something without using quotation marks. Next, the quotation is indented 1/2 inch from the left, and it’s left-justified, meaning that the quote’s left margin forms a straight line up and down. Last but not least, you will provide the parenthetical citation
_after_ the end punctuation (and because it’s a direct quotation, you will include the page number). Use block quotes sparingly. (Harding, 2020, p. 49)

If the original paragraph continues after the quotation, begin on the next double-spaced line, making sure that the line is flush left. If you want to begin a new paragraph after the block quotation, you will indent the new paragraph 1/2 inch from the left margin. Finally, if you include a narrative citation when introducing the block quote (i.e. “According to Harding (2020) …”), only include the page number in the parenthetical citation after the block quote. You can read more about these rules on pp. 272-273 of the APA manual.]

**Student Signature: [Type Full Name Here]**

**Activity Directions:** As previously discussed, compensation is a guiding factor that influences individuals in accepting an offer with an organization. But, compensation alone does not determine if an individual will accept an offer. Benefits, now more than ever, are exceptionally appealing to potential employees. Often, when discussing information about compensation and benefits, the term “total rewards” is referenced.Total reward offerings are a combination of the compensation and benefits offered to individuals for specific work. Over the years, organizations have become creative in terms of the benefits that they are offering employees. Not all organizations can offer the benefits that companies like Google or Microsoft offer. Recognizing the needs of your workforce is important. For this week’s assignment, you are required to select a generation of your choice, which is currently in the workforce. Presently, there are five generations in the workforce, which include: Traditionalists, Baby Boomers, Generation X (Gen X), Millennials, and Generation Z (Gen Z). After you select your chosen generation, in a 2- to 3-page paper, please detail the following:

– Provide a brief overview of your generation, detailing information about birth years, common characteristics, world events that likely shaped/impacted this generation, and more.
– Provide details about generational preferences in terms of total reward offerings.
– Explain how HR professionals and organizations can cater to the needs of each generation when employing a multi-generational workforce.

Your assignment should be submitted in proper APA formatting and must be between 2- to 3-pages in length (not including your cover page or reference page). You are required to use Times New Roman 12-point font. Your paper must be double-spaced and use 1-inch margins. Before submitting your assignment, please ensure the following:

1. You have included an APA formatted cover page.
2. You have included properly formatted headings and subheadings.
3. You have addressed all of the assignment requirements.
4. You have used your textbook and two other scholarly sources to support your points (and have cited this content in-text and in the reference list).
5. You have provided a properly formatted reference list.

Your assignments must be written in your own words. Quotes should be seldomly used. If you are using quotations, you need to properly cite the following in-text: (1) the author(s), (2) the year in which the quote was published, and (3) the page or paragraph in which the quote was located. Example: Smith et al. (2023) stated, “Citing content properly is essential” (p. 1). In addition to using proper in-text citations, you also need to properly reference the quotation in your reference list.
